How to Get Rid of Eczema Spots

What are eczema spots? The reddish, scaly, scratchy patches on your body are normally as a result of skin eczema. Eczema is a skin condition that tends to run within families. While the hot spots on your skin can easily be treated using over-the-counter medications and natural remedies for eczema, it is highly recommended that you visit a dermatologist (i.e. skin specialist) who will then recommend the best treatment.

Tips and guidelines

Tip #1 – Warm water

Most doctors recommend that you utilize warm water instead of hot water whilst bathing. Unknown to most people is that hot water can cause your skin to dry much faster than warm water, thus hindering the eczema spots from recovery.

Tip #2 – Change your hair shampoo

The reason why your eczema spots are not healing could be as a result of the hair shampoo you are using. Try changing to a scent free and dye-free hair shampoo and observe the changes after a couple of days. In addition, spend more time in the shower after taking your normal bath so as to get rid of soap traces on your skin.

Tip #3 – Moisturizing cream

You can minimize the itchiness on your skin by applying a moisturizing ointment after every bath. Whereas there are different types of moisturizing creams in the market, it is important to understand that not all of them can give you the results you were hoping for. Talk to a dermatologist about the most suitable skin moisturizer to use that will not worsen the condition.

Tip #4 – Put on loose-fitting garments

Tight fitting garments prevent your skin from breathing properly, thus preventing the hot spots on your skin from healing. Therefore, you need to wear loose-fitting garments made from either cotton or linen.

Tip #5 – Eat fatty fish

Last but not least, to get rid of eczema spots, you need to eat a minimum of 4 oz. of fatty fish on a weekly basis. According to most dermatologists, white spots on your body could be an indication that your body is not being provided with adequate essential omega-3 fatty acids.
